Founded in 1804.
Since the first brewer, Nizaemon Ishidaya, the brewery has been pursuing the unique brewing of Kuroryu sake.
Due in part to the excellent water quality of the area and the encouragement of the Matsuoka clan, there were 17 breweries in the area during the heyday of the brewery,
Today, there are only one other brewery, the Kuroryu Sake Brewery, which goes by the name of Ishidaya.
This is the result of stubbornly protecting the traditional culture of sake brewing.
