Suntory Kakubin Yellow Label is a blended Japanese whisky that was first released in 1937. It is a  flagship product of Suntory, and its name “Kakubin” means “square bottle” in Japanese. The whisky is a blend of malt and grain whiskies, with the malt whiskies coming from the Yamazaki and Hakushu  distilleries. It has a light, fruity flavor with notes of apple, lemon, and honey. It is bottled at 40% ABV. Suntory Kakubin Yellow Label is a versatile whisky that can be enjoyed in a variety of ways. It is a popular choice for mixing in cocktails, such as the highball and the mizuwari (means “water cut”, a popular way to enjoy whisky in Japan). It is also enjoyed neat or on the rocks. The thoughts behind Hibiki "Making whisky with Japanese sensibilities that will be loved around the world." It was the dream of Suntory founder Shinjiro Torii that paved the way for the history of whisky making in Japan. In 1923, Shinjiro began construction of Japan's first whisky distillery in Yamazaki, on the outskirts of Kyoto. Learning from authentic Scottish methods, he began a process of trial and error to create a flavor that would suit the delicate taste of the Japanese people in Japan's climate and environment. To be accepted by people at the time who were unfamiliar with Western liquor, it was essential to have an excellent blend that captured the trends and tastes of the times. Blessed with such a sharp sensibility that he was called the "nose of Osaka," Shinjiro created a number of blended whiskies, including "Shirofuda," "Kakubin," "Old," and "Royal," and refined them along with the Japanese palate.
