About This Sake
Sake, also spelled saké, is a Japanese rice wine made by fermenting polished rice. It is often referred to as a "wine" because of its alcoholic content and wine-like appearance, but its production process is more similar to that of beer, where the starch is converted into sugars before being converted to alcohol through fermentation. Despite this, sake has a unique taste and character that is distinctly different from both wine and beer.
