About The Brewery

Founded in 1825. Mr. Ryo Kagiwada is the 11th generation. In the past, when he presented sake brewed from Ashigara rice to the Odawara clan, Okubo, the lord of the clan, gave him the sake name “Matsu Biyu” (meaning “beautiful rooster” in Japanese). The name “Matsu” refers to the pine trees along the Sako River, “Bi” refers to the beautiful scenery of Matsuda Town and its beautiful sake, and “Toru” refers to the shape of the sake bottle, which in one character means “sake.
